Welcoming Message (14th AOTA Congress)
On behalf of the Asia and Oceania Thyroid Association, it is my great pleasure and honor to invite you to the upcoming 14th AOTA Congress to be held at Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel, Bali from 22nd to 25th of May 2024. The congress is the scientific meeting of AOTA which has been held every two to four years and its organization is rotated among the country society members of AOTA. The congress will feature the latest advances in thyroidology as well as an update on the day-to-day practice of clinical thyroidology by renowned experts from the region.
We would like to express our sincere respect to all past presidents, council members of AOTA, and committee members of the 14th AOTA Congress. Since it was established in 1975, AOTA has grown rapidly and now it is one of the leading medical societies in Asia. AOTA has dedicated itself to improving domestic and regional research and treatment of thyroid disorders. Since it held 1st congress in Singapore on January 28-31, 1978, subsequent congresses were held in Tokyo of Japan (1982), Bangkok of Thailand (1986), Seoul of Korea (1989), Leura of Australia (1993), Osaka of Japan (1997), Singapore (2003), Manila of Philippines (2007), Nagoya of Japan (2009), Bali of Indonesia (2012), and Kochi of India (2014), Busan of Korea (2017) and Sydney of Australia (2019).
During the last 5 years, we have not been able to have a face-to-face meeting due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has greatly impacted our scientific activities in our region. So, I am very excited to expect that we could meet our old friends and young scientists again at this Congress.
At this congress, a number of thyroid experts from different Asian countries will be brought together to exchange their scientific knowledge and build strong networks with each other. Also, this congress is also about getting our young trainees and scientists together, to learn and to present their work.
I extend my sincere gratitude to Tjokorda Gde Dalem Pemayun for hosting the 14th AOTA congress, to local organizing committee members, and to program organizing committee members for their hard work and efforts for making a successful AOTA 2024. All of the AOTA members would like to celebrate the launching of the Indonesian Thyroid Association (InaTA) which was done a few years ago, and hope prosperity of InaTA as the standing society for Indonesian Thyroidologists.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Bali in the hope that you will be able to enjoy the fantastic days of May in Bali, Indonesia !!

Welcoming Message Indonesian Thyroid Association (InaTA)
The Asia Oceania Thyroid Association (AOTA) has long played a very active role and has the biggest and most positive influence in Asia, which is equivalent to ETA, ATA, ITA, and LATS. The holding of the AOTA congress every 3 years in this region has also been able to trigger young researchers to continue working and produce international thyroid experts. Even though the COVID-19 pandemic has not been declared over, AOTA’s enthusiasm to continue carrying out the Congress remains high and full of optimism. We are all members of the Indonesian Thyroid Association with the same spirit and self-confidence, and we are running for the venue for the upcoming AOTA 2024 congress.
The main goal of the AOTA Congress is to increase the common perception of the thyroid and its problems based on clinical experience, developments in thyroid science, the latest research publications, artificial intelligence in the thyroid gland, and breakthroughs in the latest thyroid cancer therapies in the future.
The main targets as participants are all thyroid-observing doctors, both general practitioners who serve at the forefront of thyroid health services in the community, as well as multidisciplinary thyroid consultant doctors, who work in medical education centers as well as biomolecular research centers as clinical and epidemiological research.
Bali, an island that is very famous around the world, and a very beautiful tourist destination in Indonesia, is the perfect place for the upcoming AOTA congress in 2024. Airplanes from all over the world can land directly on the runway in Bali. Bali and several well-known tourist sites are ready to accept AOTA congress participants, both for scientific events and social events. Bali held the AOTA Congress in 2012, successfully, so we hope that Bali will get another mandate now as the host of AOTA 2024.
